What is the Working Holiday Visa
What it is exactly
The Working Holiday Visa (WHV) is a visa based on the bilateral agreement between Spain and Japan that allows young Spaniards aged 18 to 30 to reside in Japan for up to 12 months.
Its primary purpose is cultural and holiday-related. Work is permitted but incidental: the visa's goal is holidays and cultural exchange, not employment.
Quota and availability
According to MOFA (Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the annual quota for Spain is 700 spots. A prior job offer is not required to apply.
What it allows and what it doesn't
The WHV allows incidental work during the stay. Working in adult entertainment establishments or venues that affect public morals is not permitted.
Remember: the visa's primary purpose is holidays and cultural exchange, not work.
